Our locations
The Graduate Policy Programme is available in both our London and Darlington offices, giving you the opportunity to start your policy career in one of two locations that are central to HM Treasury’s future
London
Our 1 Horse Guards Road (1HGR) office is based in London. SW1A 2HQ, close to the Houses of Parliament. Based in Whitehall, 1HGR is close to many other Civil Service departments with St. James Park on our doorstep.
The office is open plan with dedicated breakout areas, quiet spaces and meeting rooms for staff to use. There are also several amenities such as cafes, restaurants, vending machines, fitness centres, shower rooms, a prayer room as well as storage for bicycles and motorcycles. There is wheelchair access at the main entrances to the building.
The closest tube is Westminster Tube station which is on the Jubilee, Circle and District lines and is also well served by several bus routes across London. Waterloo, Charing Cross and Victoria rail stations are all roughly a 10-minute walk from the office.
Darlington
The Darlington Economic Campus, which officially opened its doors in 2021, brings together eight government departments, enabling decisions makers and policy advisers to work more closely with the communities we serve. With over 300 of our staff now based there, Darlington is a microcosm of the Treasury, offering roles across all business groups and grades.
In addition to HMT, the Darlington Economic Campus hosts the following government departments and agencies:
● Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
● Department for Energy Security & Net Zero
● Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
● Department for Culture, Media and Sport
● Department for Education
● Office for National Statistics
● Competition and Markets Authority
The Darlington Economic Campus is now home to over 1000 staff across these departments and agencies.
Feethams House in central Darlington opened in 2022 as the temporary home of the Economic Campus until our permanent site is built. Work is underway on the permanent Government Hub on Brunswick Street in Darlington, which is set to open in 2028.
