Online assessment
As part of the assessment process, you’ll complete a psychometric test designed to help us understand your preferred working style and assess key skills relevant to the Policy Adviser role.
The assessment has three parts:
1. Personality questions
The Personality Questionnaire helps us understand how you prefer to work, what motivates you in a professional environment and how you might approach different situations.
There are no right or wrong answers. We encourage you to be yourself and answer honestly, based on how you would typically behave at work.
2. Verbal reasoning questions
These questions measure your ability to understand, interpret and evaluate written information. You’ll read short passages and identify appropriate conclusions using only the information provided.
As a Policy Adviser, you’ll work with information from different sources and draw accurate conclusions based on the evidence, making this an important skill for success in the role.
3. Numerical reasoning questions
These questions measure your ability to understand, analyse and interpret numerical information. You’ll work with data presented in a variety of formats, such as tables and charts, and answer questions that require you to interpret information and perform calculations.
As a Policy Adviser, your work will help shape decisions that affect people’s lives across the UK. You’ll use data, evidence and statistics to inform those decisions, making numerical reasoning an important skill for the role.
Preparing for the assessment
We recommend completing the assessment in one sitting where possible, in a quiet environment with a reliable internet connection. Give yourself enough time to focus and consider turning off notifications to avoid distractions.
While some elements of the assessment may not be timed, it’s important to read all instructions and questions carefully before responding. Trust your judgement and approach, use the information provided, and try not to overthink your responses.
